Civic Music League welcomes Barron Ryan on March 25 – Crookston Times
Time report
Live a musical adventure when Barron Ryan comes to Crookston on Friday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of Crookston High School. Discover how “classic meets cool” through its program from “The Entertainer” by Scott Joplin to “Claire de Lune” by Debussy and “Fantasie Impromptu” by Chopin.
“Barron Ryan grew up with musical parents, enjoying a variety of styles from Mozart to Michael Jackson at home,” the Civic Music League said in a press release. “His father started teaching him the piano when Barron was four.”
“His piano style combines vintage and fresh, historic and trendy, and classic but cool,” they added. “His love of music continued through his teens and majoring in piano at the University of Oklahoma.”
“After being discouraged by rejection from numerous music conservatories, Barron briefly gave up the piano to pursue a career in hip-hop. But after winning a piano competition that sent the winner on a tour of Israel, Barron found his new direction. He discovered the joy of concert music inspired by jazz and ragtime.
“The members of the Crookston Civic Music League are ready for an interesting mix of great music.”
